Debbie Ding's "The Singapore River as a Psychogeographical Faultline"
As an exhibition presented by The Substation Open Call, I personally found Debbie Ding's contemporary interpretation of The Singapore River both thoughtfully and tactilely engaging. I'm no art critic, but I felt that it re-maps Singapore's collective spine of space, time and culture, much like how early neurologist Wilder Penfield re-mapped our diverse sensory system into the cortical homunculus. The photos will show you the various types of interactions which the audience is invited to partake in. This is the sort of thing that intrigues me (and the masses I suspect), because it plays with logic, making this art exhibition an open, exploratory game.
